Training Success and Generous Donation from RBC at Anchorage Event

August 12, 2024

Backhaul Alaska marked a significant achievement at Total Reclaim in Anchorage with a volunteer training session and a substantial donation event, reflecting our ongoing commitment to responsible waste management. The day was charged with activity, focusing on hands-on training involving the safe handling of hazardous materials such as vehicle and heavy equipment batteries.

The highlight of the day came when the Responsible Battery Coalition (RBC) generously donated $27,255, reinforcing their support for our mission to recycle over 3,000,000 pounds of spent batteries from rural Alaskan communities. This donation not only boosts our capabilities but also underlines the strength of our partnerships in pushing forward Alaska’s recycling efforts.

The event also offered a media opportunity, allowing us to share the importance of our work with a broader audience. Such initiatives are crucial for Alaska, where geographic isolation and limited infrastructure complicate waste management. Since 2018, Backhaul Alaska has collected and recycled more than 1.2 million pounds of waste, mitigating environmental risks and protecting community health.

We are committed to safeguarding Alaska’s natural landscapes and communities by coordinating the return of hazardous waste to the circular economy, where it can be managed responsibly—thus protecting subsistence resources, creating jobs, and removing toxins from our land. Your support is crucial as we continue these efforts.
